Product description
Radon (Rn-222) is a naturally occurring radioactive inert gas that is colorless and odorless. It is produced by the decay of uranium and radium and is widely present in soil, rocks, and building materials. Long-term exposure to high concentrations of radon increases the risk of lung cancer (the World Health Organization classifies it as a Group 1 carcinogen). Therefore, continuous monitoring of radon concentration is crucial for places such as residences, mines, and basements. Silicon semiconductor detectors are used to record the alpha particle energy spectrum produced by radon decay. Through energy spectrum analysis, the decay products of radon can be distinguished, allowing for the precise calculation of radon gas concentration.
